A chiropractic adjustment is a high velocity, low amplitude force applied by hand to an area of the spine to improve joint function which ultimately reduces pain.
Chiropractic care is focused on diagnosing and treating misalignments in the spine and other joints, also known as subluxations. Chiropractors use manual adjustments to realign the spine and restore proper function to the nervous system, which can improve overall health and well-being. Chiropractors also emphasise the importance of preventative care and lifestyle modific ations to prevent future injuries and maintain optimal health.
Physiotherapy, on the other hand, is focused on treating physical impairments and disabilities through exercises, manual therapy, and other modalities. Physiotherapists aim to restore function, mobility, and independence to individuals with injuries or chronic conditions. They also provide education and guidance on injury prevention and management.
At our clinic, our chiropractors not only provide expert spinal adjustments and personalised treatment plans, but also have extensive experience in rehabilitation exercises. This allows us to provide a holistic approach to care and help patients achieve optimal results in both pain relief and long-term health and wellness.
While both chiropractic treatments and physiotherapy can be effective in treating musculoskeletal conditions, they approach treatment from different perspectives. It is important to note that each individual and their condition is unique, and the best treatment option may vary depending on their specific needs and preferences.
Chiropractic adjustments are generally safe and comfortable for most patients. Some patients may experience mild discomfort or soreness following an adjustment, but this is usually temporary and can be managed with ice or heat therapy. It is important to communicate any concerns or discomfort to your chiropractor during the adjustment process so they can adjust their technique accordingly. Overall, chiropractic adjustments should not be painful or cause excessive discomfort. At our clinic, we prioritise patient comfort and will work with you to ensure a positive and pain-free experience.
X-rays are often used in chiropractic care to help diagnose and evaluate musculoskeletal conditions. They allow the chiropractor to see the alignment of the spine, severity of your conditions, identify any underlying/potential problems or abnormalities, and tailor a treatment plan specifically to your needs.
There are certain situations where X-rays may not be appropriate, such as pregnancy or young children. In these cases, we will use alternative methods to assess the patients.
Research has shown Chiropractic care to be effective against a range of musculoskeletal conditions. Statistics in Australia have indicated that patients who sought Chiropractors as their primary physician saw a reduction in medication and hospitalisations in regards to conditions related to the musculoskeletal system.
Even if you are not currently experiencing pain or discomfort, chiropractic care can still be beneficial for your overall health and well-being. By maintaining proper spinal alignment, you can improve your posture, increase your range of motion, and enhance your body’s natural healing abilities. Regular chiropractic check-ups can also help prevent future injuries and address any potential issues before they become more serious.
Chiropractic care can help improve poor posture by realigning the spine and correcting any misalignments or imbalances that may be causing the problem. Through gentle adjustments, chiropractors can realign the spine and improve joint mobility, which can help alleviate muscle tension and improve posture. Chiropractors can also provide guidance on exercises and stretches to help strengthen and improve posture.
Poor posture can lead to pain and discomfort, as well as a variety of other health issues, so it’s important to address it as soon as possible.
Yes, absolutely. Over at Live Well Chiropractic, Dr Siew Wei performs Webster technique which is a specific chiropractic sacral and pelvic analysis and adjustment specifically for pregnant moms. Webster technique is helpful in improving the nervous system function, providing a more balanced pelvic bone, muscles and ligaments. Side effects may include lesser lower back pain, more comfort and movement, better sleep, and posture, it also optimises the baby’s ability to get into the best possible position for birth.
The Webster technique is a specific chiropractic analysis and diversified adjustment. The goal of the adjustment is to reduce the effects of subluxation and/or SI joint dysfunction. In doing so, the neurobiomechanical function in the sacral/pelvic region is improved.
It balances pelvic muscles and ligaments which eliminates torsion in the mother’s uterus. This reduces the potential of intrauterine constraint to the baby offering a greater opportunity for the baby to develop without constraint and get into the best possible position for birth.
